Great Ocean Road Australia

The Great Ocean Road is a popular place in Australia and an important tourist destination. Green Ocean Road starts to the east of Allansford along the Princess Highway which further takes you to Geelong where M1 meets and moves further to Melbourne. From Allansford the track moves forward to the coast. This stretch offers you to view some very beautiful landscape with numerous national parks, pretty coves and beaches. One can also witness the famous and spectacular rock formations like the Twelve Apostles and also get to see some beautiful surfing spots. While moving towards the east along the Great Ocean Road, the first place one come across is the Port Campbell National Park.

This park is famous for some beautiful fabulous rock formations. Some of the rock formations found here are the London Arch. This natural arch is the result of erosion and was previously called London Bridge. It was called so because of its similarity with the actual bridge which has double arches. The name London Arch was given to the rock formation in the year 1990.

Another interesting thing to see while moving past the Great Ocean road, Australia are the penguins which reside along the Victoria's coastline.

Leaving Port Campbell behind, moving further one will get to see the Mutton Bird Island and the Blowhole. Loch Ard Gorge, Twelve Apostles and the Gibson Steps or the Gibson Beach are also worth visiting.

Tourists while on Great Ocean road Tours will also pass the Melba Gully State Park while heading towards east to the Cape Otway and the Otway National Park. The Blanket Bay offers bush camping and walking trails. The Apollo Bay by the coastline is a beautiful fishing town as it has some popular and favorable beaches. Lorne, the coastal resort is situated to the east and further one will also get to visit the Angahook-Lorne State Park and the Aireys Inlet. There are several places to stay at Aireys Inlet and some good beaches.

Anglesea and Torquay are the two towns further east with some beautiful beaches and offers the appropriate setting for surfing, hang-gliding, golf and kangaroo spotting.
