New South Wales, Australia is a state and is suppose to house some of the most popular places of Australia. Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong are the three main important cities of New South Wales. New South Wales is located in the south-eastern part of Australia. Queensland lie to the north of New South Wales, on the west to the New South Wales is the South Australia, Victoria lies to the south and on the east New South Wales is bordered by the Tasman Sea. New South Wales is spread over an area of 802,000 square kilometers. The state is also known for its beautiful scenery with the western plains, coasts and the mountains. The state is primarily divided into four regions.

The four regions of New South Wales in Australia are as followed:

The coastal region: this area extends from Queensland to Victoria.
The Great Dividing Range: runs parallel to the coastal region with the Blue Mountains, the Snowy Mountains.
The New England Table Land with the wineries of the Hunter Valley.
The farming land and western slopes

The state of New South Wales in Australia has a number of tourist attractions with numerous beaches and coastal stretch. The Murray and the Darling River are the two main rivers that flow through the state. The climate of the state of New South Wales is hotter as we head northward and dryer as one move westward. The southern region of the state is colder in compared to all other regions of New South Wales.

New South Wales, as the history of the lands speaks, originally was the place where Captain Cook landed. New South Wales was first inhabited by the Europeans in the year 1788 by the Sydney Harbor.

The main tourist attractions in New South Wales in Australia are the Byron Bay, more often recognized as the place to first witness the rising sun in Australia. Byron Bay is also the eastern most point of mainland Australia. The Snowy Mountains offer appropriate and perfect skiing spots during the winter season and is appropriate place for bushwalking during the summer season. Tourism forms an important part and adds significantly to the economy of the state.

New South Wales in Australia also has a rich cultural background and is the home to the Sydney Symphony and Opera Australia with its head office in Sydney. The Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Sydney Jewish Museum, the Museum of Sydney and the Museum of Contemporary Art are the major tourist attractions of the state. The Australian Chamber Orchestra has its headquarters located in Sydney in New South Wales, Australia.
