One of the most important historical sites in Brazil, the town of Olinda can be traced back to the16 the century and is associated with the sugarcane industry of the times. The architecture again is unique and the present landscape dates back to the 18th century. It was founded in 1535 as an administrative capital. Parati, located in southeastern Brazil, is one of the most beautiful colonial ports and
the affluence of this 17th century town can still be seen. Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais, is another important historical center in Brazil, known for its unique architectural design and layout of the city. Besides these historic towns, there are many other historical attractions in Brazil, known for their unique beauty and cultural heritage.

Salvador da Bahia is also one of the important historical sites in Brazil, with the state being divided into the upper and lower. Cited as a World Hertitage Center, the state is home to Cicade Alta, one of the major centers of colonial churches, palaces and museums. Salvador is home to many famous churches, including the Church of Sao Francisco and the Church of Bonfim, among others. The religion and culture has a distinct fusion of Catholic and African religions. The Diamantina National Park, Ilheus and Aracaju in Bahia, among others are also important historical places. In south Brazil, Porto Alegre reeks of colonial heritage and home to Saíµ Miguel das Missíµes, another World Heritage Site. While these are some of the natural historical centers of Brazil, Brazil is home to many important museums, depicting much from rich cultural past of the country. Some of these include Sao Paulo Art Museum, Tancredo Neves Memorial,Museum of Modern Art,National Historical Museum of Brazil and National Museum of Brazil, among others.
