Golden Dragon Parade and Festival
The Dragon Parade is a Chinese tradition that is taking place for more than 100 years. The Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles is presenting the parade, which will complete its 113th year in 2012. This is an Annual event that takes place every year on Lunar New Year Day.
About the event
More than 110, 000 people participate in the parade. The event is aired live over national television. People march through the parade routes along Chinatown’s North Broadway.
Originally, the event used to take place on a Friday. However, since more participation from people was expected, the parade was shifted to Saturday.
Painted dragons in various colors march down the parade route. Enjoy this Chinese New Year event with your family and friends. Similar to last year, in 2012, it is expected that it will be the venue for a Lantern Festival. The celebrations usually go on for more than 4 hours.
