Generally the weather in Texas remains cool during December. However, the temperature still remains mild so that it makes an ideal backdrop for gala Christmas events. A variety of events are held in Texas during the Christmas season. A few important Christmas Events in Texas are listed below.


Dickens on the Strand


Texas is a city which boasts of a rich history. It makes great sense to revisit the characters from the novels of Charles Dickens, during the Christmas. The annual ‘Dickens on the Strand’event makes the perfect backdrop for the festive month of December and it kicks off the Christmas holiday season in a unique way. This brings the visitors back to the Victorian era where the vendors in carts stroll along side the street along with the musicians and the carolers. During this event, all the participants starting from the musicians, carolers and the marchers dress up like the characters depicted in the novels of Charles Dickens. Alongside, more than 150 vendors with Victorian costumes join the event. Also, there are lot of things for the children. The snow area and the Royal Menagerie Petting Zoo are the favorite attractions of the children.


Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza


This is an annual event held in San Antonio. This event includes workshops,

mariachi competitions and a grand finale concert. The music concert features Mariachi Vargas. This is a traditional music event which is being played to the crowds for more than five generations. Though, Mariachi Vargas concerts are held throughout the United States, the concert that is held in San Antonio is something special. The Municipal Auditorium in San Antonio hosts this musical concert.


Dallas Christmas Festival


This Christmas event is held at the Worship Center of Prestonwood Baptist Church, Plano. The event includes traditional choir singing, soloists and pop culture. Dallas Christmas Festival of earlier years often featured dancing Christmas trees, special effects and even live animals.


ICE! and Lone Star Christmas


This special Christmas event takes place in Grapevine. The event features Santa Claus, music, dance, a life-sized gingerbread house, electric train displays and many more things. The event also features ice sculptures and ice slides.


Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s Christmas Concerts


Every year, during the Christmas season, Dallas Symphony Orchestra comes up with entertaining music concerts. Generally, renowned musicians perform in these concerts.


The Arlington Nativity Display


This is a special Christmas program which covers a collection of more than 1,500 Nativity sets from across the globe. Three days of musical performances, including devotional and traditional songs for the Christmas festival, is a major Christmas event in Texas.


Texas Ballet Theater’s Presentation of the Nutcrackers


This Christmas event features several performances of classic holiday ballet dances.


Texas Holiday Wine Trail


Through a Christmas tour to the wineries of Texas Hill, you will enjoy tasty wines, art shows and many more things. The event covers 24 independent wineries. This is a popular annual event. First Night Austin


Austin is altogether a different kind of city. The city stages unique events to ring the New Year bell. This is the only city in Texas which hosts a First Night program every year since 1976. Nearly, 100,000 visitors flock to this city to attend this annual event.
