Holiday Places in Jiujiang, China

Jiujiang is situated in northern Jiangxi Province, China. It is a popular tourist place located on the south of Yangtze River. Due to its prime location, it is not only an important transportation hub, but is also an important commercial and industrial city in southern China. Jiujiang is an ideal holiday destination for those who love aquatic resources and nature. The city is also rich in many mineral deposits like limestone, gold, tungsten, silica, copper and molding sand.

Attractions in Jiujiang
There are several attractions in Jiujiang in northern Jiangxi Province. Some of these include:
  • Lushan National Park and Mount Lushan: The scenic beauty of Lushan National Park attracts tourists from all parts of the world. The Lushan World Heritage Site contains four types of cultural relics. They are inscriptions, foreign and Chinese villas, archaeological sites and many historic buildings. Heritage Site Mount Lushan is situated on the South of Jiujiang city and it faces the Yangtze River in the North and connects the Poyang Lake in the east. Mount Lushan is spread over an area of more than 300 square kilometers and it encompasses more than 90 peaks. Hanyang Peak, regarded as the highest peak, is 1,474 meters above sea-level. Mount Lushan has plenty of tourist attractions like Xianrendong (Immortal's Cavern), the Wulaofeng (Five Elderly Men Peaks), and the White Deer Cave Academy.
  • Donglin Monastery: Located on the northwestern foot of Mount Lushan, Donglin Monastery was originally constructed in 384 A.D in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. However, the Monastery gained popularity during the Tang Dynasty. Everyday, the Monastery welcomes several Buddhist disciples and tourists.


  • Nengren Temple: Located on the eastern outskirts of Jiujiang, Nengren Temple is a temple in China containing the largest ancient structures in the city of Jiujiang. Spread over an area of 3,000 square meters, the Temple boasts of many beautiful buildings. Tourists visiting this place can see the Iron Buddha, Stone Boat, Dasheng Temple, Twin Sun Bridge, Icy Hill and Snow Cave and Hui'er Spring. Just beside the Temple is the Great Victory Pagoda which was built in the Tang Dynasty.


  • Poyang Lake: Poyang Lake is the largest fresh-water lake situated in China. You can find many attractions in the Lake like Nanshan Hill, Dagu Hill and Lake-View Pavilion. The place is known for its picturesque landscape. The wooden Lake-View Pavilion is situated on the shore of Poyang Lake.

Best Time to Visit Jiujiang
The people living in Jiujiang enjoy a subtropical climate. The average annual temperature is 17 degree Celsius. The coldest month in Jiujiang is January having a mean temperature of approximately 5 degree Celsius. July is regarded as the hottest month and the mean temperature during this time hovers around 29 degree Celsius.

Since it is rainy during the summer and cold during winter, late Spring and Autumn is the ideal time for visiting Jiujiang. However, the climatic condition in Mount Lushan is somewhat different. There are four distinct seasons in Mount Lushan. Hence, travelers can visit Jiujiang any time according to their convenience.
