Centre Pompidou, Paris often referred to as the Centre Georges Pompidou or just Beaubourg is among the famous tourist attractions in Paris in France. The name Centre Georges Pompidou is given to the complex after the name of the President Georges Pompidou. This modern art museum was constructed between the years 1971 to 1977 and is situated in Beaubourg area as it is referred to, in the 4th

arrondissement in Paris. Mr. Georges Pompidou had brought up the idea of establishing a new cultural center which will be specifically dedicated to modern art, in the year 1969 and finally after it was built, the complex was opened to the public on the 31st of December in the year 1974.

The Centre Pompidou in Paris was closed for renovation in the year 1997 and was reopened on 1st January, 2000.

The Public Information Library or BPI has a collection of about 450,000 books, 2,600 magazines and also a large number of new media paraphernalia. This library is housed on the third floor of the building.

    Visiting Time


    • Centre Pompidou, Paris is open everyday of the week from 11 am to 10 pm except for every Tuesday and the 1st of May, when the museum remains closed.
    • Tickets once bought for the day can be used to see all the exhibitions that are held at the National Museum of Modern Art and Brancusi Workshop on that day.
