Major Festivals


Sani Festival
A annual celebration since 1993, this festival unites nationally and internationally admired artists at the Sani Resort. Events such as music concerts, dance performances and painting exhibitions are held in different venues around the Sani Resort . This festival is mainly celebrated from July to September every year.

Epidaurus Festival
The ancient theatre of Epidaurus meets a festival of Classical drama performances every summer during the months of July and August. It is one of Greece’s top events which attract thousands of visitors every year.

European Music day
The Music Day which also meets every summer in Athens, during 3 days, international and national bands and musicians for all night long.

National Anniversary
This is the Greek Independence Day celebrated by military parades and folk dances. This is also OXI Day which is the day general Metaxa’s famously said Oxi or No to the Italians demand for occupation during World War II.
The major cities where these festivals are celebrated are the cities of Athens, Samothraki, Kallithea, Halkidiki, Santorini, and Thessaloniki. While Athens Epidaurus Festival is celebrated at various times of the year, Athens International Film and Video Festival and Games Festival are celebrated in the month of April. International Thessaloniki Film Festival is celebrated in the month of November and Santorini Jazz Festival and Samothraki World Music Art Ecology Festival are celebrated in the month of July. Some of the world's best jazz musicians gather during the festival and display their astonishing skills. The beautiful island is further enhanced in its beauty during the celebration. International Thessaloniki Film Festival is one of the most celebrated film festivals around the world and the Greeks are very proud to be the organizers of this festival.
