Hydra Island, Greece is located in the Aegean Sea and is positioned between the Argolic Gulf and the Saronic Gulf. The Hydra Gulf separates the Hydra Island from the Peloponnese. Hydra Island stretches to a length of about 23 km and at its widest point, the island measures almost 5.5km. The total area covered by the island is approximately 48km2. The topography of the island mainly comprise of rocky hill sides. The highest point of the Island is the Eros which rises to a height of 500 meters. The island got its name from the fact that the place was covered by pine-forest and had plenty of water. But, today, Hydra Island in Greece in Europe is an arid, rocky and barren land.

June and August are the summer months in the island. The temperature during this season rises to 38 degree Celsius keeping 25 as the minimum recorded temperature. September and October are the most pleasant time to visit the island as it is the autumn at this time of the year and the temperature starts dropping though the sea temperature remains high. November to March is the winter season of the year when the area experiences high rainfall.
