Halloween is the combination of traditions from various places, including ancient Rome. Most of the traditions have been passed from Europe to other places like US, Mexico and Belgium. The recent Halloween in Europe started to take place, before all saints day was stated by the Pope. In fact, Halloween celebration was replaced by the festival of pagan.

Halloween is celebrated in different parts of the world to woo away the evil spirits, which roam around. The Europeans believed that the spirits of dead people visited earth during Halloween. As they feared the evil spirits will harm them, they started celebrating this festival. People used to dress up wearing scary costumes to look like ghosts. They felt that if they dress up as ghosts and other evil creatures, then the spirits won't harm them. In fact the spirits would think that they are already dead and will not attack them.

The Halloween in Europe is celebrated in a bit different manner, as compared to US or other parts of the world. Even though pumpkins are very often used, as a symbol of Halloween celebration, in Europe turnip is very popular. People, now, instead of worrying about evil spirits, treat this as a fun filled event. Children enjoy a lot and dress up in costumes, resembling several super natural characters. They also dress up in costumes like people did many years ago. They go from door to door and beg for cookies, which is named as "trick or treat".
