Unlike other countries where Halloween is celebrated on October 31st, in Germany it is not celebrated on October 31st always. Instead, many people in the country celebrate an entire week from October 30th to November 8th. It is commonly known as All Soul’s Week or Seleenwoche.

Special prayer services are arranged for the dead on All Soul’s Day. You may find graves being sprinkled with holy water. Sometimes Requeim masses are held at the gravesite. Candles are lit to commemorate the death of the near and dear ones.
