Bangalore or officially known as Bengaluru, is the capital of South Indian state of Karnataka. A beautiful city on the Deccan Plateau in the south-eastern part of Karnataka, Bengaluru is the third most populous city in India. Known as the Silicon Valley of India, Bengaluru is the home to a number of number of IT/ITES
companies. Besides the IT companies, Bengaluru is also home to a number of public sectors like heavy industries, aerospace, telecommunications, machine tools, heavy equipment, and defence establishments. Known for its greens and beauties, Bengaluru is also popularly known as the “Garden City”. The previous name of the city “Bangalore” has been an anglicized version of the native name Bengaluru, which is believed to be adapted from Benda Kaale Uru or The Town of Boiled Beans. A place of high-class technologies, tree-lined avenues, trendy downtown, fashionable shopping malls, pubs, and new architectural wonders – Bengaluru, one of the popular places in India, has a lot to offer to the visitors. Come to this beautiful city of South India, you will surely enjoy your visit here. The weather of Bengaluru is a bit different from the other parts of the country. Unlike other places in the country where the summer months are extremely hot, Bengaluru enjoys a relatively mild weather throughout the year. February through March is the warmest months, whereas, December through February are the coldest. June to August is very windy, whereas, September to November is the rainy season. You can visit Bengaluru throughout the year, though it is better to avoid the summer.

Getting in to Bengaluru is quite easy. If you are coming down to this city by air, you have to come down at Bangalore International Airport, just 30 km north of downtown Bengaluru. One of the busiest airports in India, you will find a number of direct flights from many major airports of European and Asian destinations which include Frankfurt, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, London, Dubai, Paris, Bangkok, and Hong Kong. You will also find a number of domestic flights from all the major destinations in India. If you want to come to this city by rail, you will find a
number of trains from all the parts of the country. Bengaluru is also well connected with all the parts of the country through road.

Bengaluru has a lot to offer to the tourists of different tastes. While visiting Bengaluru, the wonderful building that you will notice at the first is the Vidhana Soudha or the Legislative House of the state of Karnataka. The grand stairs in front of the building is the unique feature of this building, the architecture of which is based on Dravidian style. While in Bengaluru, you must visit Tipu Sultan's Palace. This two story structure was the summer retreat for Tipu Sulatan. You can also visit Bangalore Palace, constructed by the Maharajahs of Mysore.

There is no dearth of greens in Bengaluru. At the center of the city is Cubbon Park. You should also visit Lal Bagh, a punctiliously cared garden over 240 acres of area. You can also pay a visit to Lumbini Park, and Wonder La Amusement Park. If you are a religious person, or if you love temples, you may visit the Bull Temple, Maha Bodhi Society Temple, ISKON Hare Krishna Temple, Venkataramana Swamy Temple, Dodda Ganapathi, Vasanthapura, Gavi Gangadeshwara Cave Temple, and the Shiva Temple. You can also visit Hesaraghatta Lake, Muthyala Maduvu, Ghati Subramanya, Shivaganga, Halenijagal, and Chunchi Falls.
