How to reach Lake Tahoe
Lake Tahoe can be reached via Sacramento Airport or Reno-Tahoe International Airport. You can also avail general aviation via Truckee-Tahoe Airport in Truckee and the Lake Tahoe Airport in South Lake Tahoe. Amtrak station in Truckee is the nearest passenger service train.

Button Creek State Park
It encompasses about 2,000 acres of land and is located on the outskirts of the Tahoe city. It is available for cross-country skiing and hiking.
D.L.Bliss State Park
It is situated on the scenic Lake Tahoe. From the Rubicon Point in this park you can have a view into the hundred feet depths of the lake.
Emerald Bay State Park
This unique island is a panorama of glacier carved granite. It is one of the major tourist attractions in Lake Tahoe area.
Grover Hot Springs State Park
This park includes hot springs, hiking trails and campground. It is the south east side of Lake Tahoe.

Tourist Activities in Lake Tahoe
Lake Tahoe is ideal for skiing in California. Skiing is one of the major winter sports in Lake Tahoe. The ski areas in Tahoe are :
Heavenly Mountain Resort : It is the biggest ski area in California near Stateline.
Squaw Valley : It is located near the Tahoe city and is the second largest ski area.
Alpine Meadows : It is a ski area of medium sized on the north shore just a few miles from Squaw Valley.
Kirkwood Mountain Resort : It is a south shore ski area.
Boreal Mountain Resort : On Donner Pass, it is a small ski area.
Mount Rose Ski Resort : This ski area is medium sized and is located in the north east side of the lake.
Ski resorts are primarily on the northern end of the Lake Tahoe. Public and private sled parks are scattered in Tahoe. The ski areas around Tahoe have snow tubing. Snow tubing is an alternative sports. Some of the other popular sports are snowmobile riding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing etc.
Water sports in Lake Tahoe
From Spring till early Fall, the lake is used for beach activities and water sports. The primary activity during summer in Tahoe is boating. The lake front restaurants are the ideal for dining and are equipped with buoys and docks. Some of the boating events are sailboat racing, guided cruises, firework shows etc. Scuba diving is a very popular water sport in Lake Tahoe.
