Lake Garden (Taman Tasik Perdana)

If you want to spend moments in tranquility and peace, during your stay in Kuala Lumpur, then Lake Garden (Taman Tasik Perdana) is the place. Not only it is a great

place for self reflection but there are many activities that visitors can indulge in. The Taman Tasik Perdana or the Lake Gardens has been planned between two lakes and resembles a grand oasis covering almost 100 hectares of land in the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur. It serves as a real breather from the monotonous concrete world which is devoid of clear blue sky.

Whether for jogging or just walking, you can expect to enjoy the wonderful scenery of full green vegetation and awe inspiring dreamy panoramic delights. The Taman Tasik Perdana or the Lake Gardens in Kuala Lumpur covers a vast area that incorporates many popular sights of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Built in the later half of the 19th century this served as a colonial gateway surrounding an artificial lake. The design and planning was initiated by Alfred Venning, a British State Treasurer of that time.

In the following years, the Lake Garden (Taman Tasik Perdana) underwent several extensions. Getting around the lake is easy as there are rowing and pedal boats that you can avail for a ride. The gardens comprise many designed landscapes in the form of big lawns with tropical trees, ponds, fountains, flower beds, grassy trails, jogging and hiking facilities and the list is endless.

There are many major attractions within the periphery of the Lake Garden (Taman

Tasik Perdana). The northern part of the garden is devoted to excellent Hibiscus and Orchid grounds. A real treasure for the flower lovers, the flower species found here is unbelievable. The entry to the flower garden is free, so you can have a real good time amidst the floral spectrum. There is a Deer Park near the west of the Orchid Garden where spotted Deers can be seen roaming around freely. Do watch out for a lesser known variety called kancil, a small Malaysian Deer.

There is a tropical rainforest in the garden that has a staggering collection of about 6000 butterflies; this is well known as the Butterfly Park and is located in the northern portion of the Lake Garden. The entrance to this park is not free. Moving more towards the south will make you enter the domains of a bird park having incredible species of birds. In southern region there is a planetarium, the National Museum and the Islamic Art Museum. There is lot more than what meets the eyes in the Lake Garden (Taman Tasik Perdana). Visiting the place will be an eye-opener for sure!
