Mexico has produced many famous artists who have created revolution in the world of art. The rich art of Mexico finds its expression in works of famous artists like Diego Rivera who painted the famous “Man at The Crossroads”. This painting was destroyed because it had the image of the communist leader Lenin. The art of Mexico showcases deep traditional style of art work. Mexico has got a very rich history. The traces of humans in Mexico dates back to some 40,000 years. The footprints of ancient human were discovered in the valley of Mexico.

For centuries Mexico was the land of hunter gatherers. The agriculture revolution in Mexico dates back to 9,000 years ago. This eventually led to the rise of many civilizations. The civilization that existed in Mexico went to all the cities with their monumental architecture, writing, mathematics, astronomical studies. The traces of these aspects are found in many historical sites of the country. Some of the places in Mexico like Mesoamerica and Aridoamerica were the major sites for many Amerindian civilizations. The native civilization which is today known as Mexico was invaded by Spain in 1519. Another conquest happened in 1521 when the metropolis of Tenochtitlan and Aztec capital was conquered by an alliance between Tlaxcaltecs and Spanish. They were the main enemies of Aztecs. No many people know that the first mesoamerican civilization was found in Olmec. They flourished between 1500 and 600 BC. Mexico became independent from Spain on September 16, 1810. This eventually followed the independence of creation of first Mexican empire in 1821 and the emperor was the Agustí­n de Iturbide. But after a couple of years he was forced out by republican forces.

Art & history of Mexico played an important role in building the country's rich culture. The culture of the country itself reflects that how strong was its history. Many well known politicians and artists created revolution in their respective work. The ancient works of the artists and some of the historical artifacts are preserved by the National Institute for Anthropology and History. The institute was established in 1939 and protects and looks after the historic sites, prehistorical things and preservation of historical artifacts. There are hundreds of museums in Mexico which have the wonderful collections of historical artifacts, art work, etc. The beautiful culture of the country and numerous historical sites are attracting more and more travelers to the country.
