There is a Maori legend guarding Milford Sound, it tells that one of the Maori God Tu Te Raki Whanoa is the creatoe of the fjord, called Milford Sound, New Zealand. He has created it by means of a magic adze. It was one of his finest sculptures. Initially it was called as, Piopiotahi, which means ‘single thrush’; later on it was being called as Milford Sound.
