The voluminous waterfalls on the Niagara river are called the Niagara Falls. The waterfalls on the Niagara River, straddling the international border between New York and Ontario, the Canadian province, is a visual feast. You can enter Canada at Lewiston Queenston Bridge by crossing the Niagara river and then take a Niagara River parkway to the Falls.

The Canadian side of the Falls offers the best view. The escarpment on the Canadian side overlooking the Falls houses a wonderful park and has a hill behind it which encompasses casinos, high-rise hotels and many other tourist attractions. The streets are also filled with restaurants, gaming arcades, museums etc. The Falls is not only famous for its beauty but is also a primary source of hydroelectric power.

The major attraction is the waterfall and the rock escarpment adjacent to the Falls provides a panoramic view of the Horseshoe Falls and also the American Falls. The shelf of rock is now transformed into a park called the Victoria Park.

Canada's largest observation wheel, Niagara SkyWheel, is about 175 feet high is located in the Clifton Hill and offers a stunning view of the American Falls and the Niagara Falls. Clifton Hill also houses restaurants, hotels etc.

If you are looking for some adventure at the Niagara Falls, then from the Table Rock Lodge which is near the Horseshoe Falls, you can get down 50 meters and then follow a tunnel via the rock and reach a small balcony close to the base of the Falls. You are protected against the drenching mists through waterproof gear.

The Maid of the Mist is one of the best attractions. It is a boat excursion where boats leave after every 30 minutes from the Canadian or US docks. Water simply splashes as you are soaked in to explore the roaring waterfalls. The boats sail within 100 meters of the Falls. The boat is a powerfully designed diesel-engined boat.

The Cave of the Winds trip offers a closer view of the waters of the Falls. Just ride an elevator into the Niagara Gorge and then follow a tour guide to the renowned 'Hurricane Deck'.

Some of the attractions around the Niagara Falls are a gambling casino, an I-Max Theater, several museums, a Marineland and amusement arcades. The Niagara Parkway which is a drive north along the River Road also provides scenic lookouts. These sight scenes provide glimpses of the Niagara River. The Great Gorge Adventure is also very interesting. It offers an elevator ride in the canyon and also a boardwalk along the river as the river water forms huge foaming stacks. Just 5 miles below the Falls is the wonderful Botanical Gardens. Simply buy a Niagara Parks Commission Pass and view all the major attractions at the Falls.
