Sofia
This is one of the cities that you must visit in Bulgaria. The place has a past that the city views reflect. It boasts of several museums, theaters, art galleries, opera houses and so on. The museums include the ones in ethnography as well as archeology. You can visit the National Art Gallery here that is stationed in the previous Royal Palace. Other tourist attractions here are the open –universities, parks, sports stadiums and the open-air markets.

Other places of interest here would be the Alexander Nevski Memorial Church. This was built to celebrate Bulgaria’s independence. This church is very prominent in the city with its golden leaf dome. Other famous churches in Sofia that you can visit are the St. Sophia located in Byzantine and dates back to 6th century. Two other names are given below:-
- Rotunda of St George dates back to 5th century and preserves the 14th century frescoes.
- St Petka Samardziiska, was built in 14th century.
Rila
One of the famous holiday destinations in Bulgaria is the Rila Monastery. This is located at a distance of 121km from Sofia. This is located at an elevated ground by the side of a mountain and in between the pine forests. The monastery has got an excellent collection of old weapons, murals, coins, woodcarvings. One of the greatest attractions is the Bibles written on old parchments.
Rila is well known for its intricate and fascinating architectural pattern and layout. It was originally found in the 10th century by a holy man named Ivan Rilski. The monastery over the ages has acted as a storehouse of ancient Bulgarian culture, history and tradition.
Plovdiv, Central BulgariaIf you travel to Central Bulgaria Polvdiv is one of the places that is a must visit. This is known as the second largest city in the country. The city was originally founded in 432 BC. The museum town of Plovdiv is divided by the River Maritsa. This has both a new and an old quarter commercial section. The old part houses some of the old and archaic buildings that date back to the 18th and 19th century. They are all in the customary National Revival style.
Another place that you must visit here is the Archaeological Museum that has some of the gold Thracian artifacts. Other eminent names that you can visit are given below:-
