Some of the maritime facts include, the continental shelf being 200 nm or to the continental margin edge. The sea territory manages a rough area of 12 nm.

Important facts related to the geography of Seychelles: There are actually two distinct regions, the granitic islands and the coralline outer islands. The granite islands are considered one of the oldest ocean islands in the world. Compared to that the coralline outer islands are very young and recent creations of nature. The Seychelles geography can be divided into the inner islands and the outer islands. The inner islands collectively comprises of 42 islands with a total area of 243.7 square kilometers, half of which is covered by area of Seychelles. The Granitic Group comprises of 40 granite islands, all within a radius of 56 km (35 mile) radius from the main island of Mahé. The most important islands of this particular group is Mahé, which is the larges island. Among the other islands mention may be made of Praslin Island, Silhouette Island, La Digue, Fregate Island, Curieuse Island, North Island, Aride Island. There are a couple of coralline islands that collectively make up the rest of the inner islands, these are, Bird Island and Denis Island. The Outer Island group consists of the Southern Coral Group, Amirante Islands, Alphonse Atoll,Aldabra Group and Farquhar Group. The total land area of this particular group is about 211.3 square kilometers. The coral islands are basically flat with coral reefs that are found in the elevated regions at different stages of formation.

Climate of Seychelles:
The climate of the place is very pleasant although the place humid weather and is subjected to the influences of the marine life. There is little variation of the temperature throughout the year. During the coolest months, July and August, the temperature drops to about 70 °F. The hottest month of the place is from December to April, with higher humidity (80). March and April are two of the hottest months of the place.

Threats for geography of Seychelles:
Due to the intensive shipping activity and the place known for its tourism, the waters have been suffering the onslaughts of the tourism activity from the past few years. However with the current management taking care of the situation the environmental threat has lessened though the problem is still far from being solved.
