Geography of Spain
The Geography of Spain is dominated by the Iberian Peninsula as it occupies almost 84 percent of it. The country has a total area of 504,782 square km. of which 499,542 square km. Is land and the rest 5,240 square km. is water. The country has a border of 1,917.8 km. among which it shares 63.7 km border with Andorra, 623 km with France, 1.2 km with Gibraltar, 1,214 km with Portugal, 6.3 km with Morocco (Ceuta), and 9.6 km with Morocco (Melilla). Besides these, the Geography of Spain also contains 4,964 km of coastline. The country has a Mediterranean coast of 1,660 km, the Atlantic coast of 710 km.
In the Geography of Spain, we can find the strong presence of plateau. Most of the central Spain is a plateau surrounded by the mountain ranges. There are also some low-land areas long the coast. The Pyrenees mountain range goes 435 km from the Mediterranean to the Bay of Biscay. The Pyrenees mountain range has a great impact on the country and on its people. Pico de Aneto is the highest peak of the Pyrenees with an altitude of 3,404 mile (11,168 ft.).
