Valentine’s Day Celebration in Egypt


Valentine’s Day in Egypt, the country of the Great Pyramids, located in the African continent, was not a big event even a few years ago. The Valentine’s Day, however is gradually becoming popular in this country, courtesy globalization. Like many countries in the world, cutting across the continents, Egypt has also embraced this 14th February occasion with romantic fervors and fun-filled traditions.

This festive occasion is indeed a boost to the tourism industry in the country. The hotels and the restaurants located in the country, gear up during this time of the year to arrange all kinds of offerings and amenities to the couples.

Valentine’s Day Features in Egypt


Though the Muslim religion does not support these celebrations, but the truth is that Valentine’s Day in Egypt is celebrated in some parts of the country, though not in a big way. But, the festival is gradually gaining in popularity in the country. Signs of decorations are seen in the country on this day and people wishes Happy Valentine’s Day to each other. Another, major feature of Valentine’s Day in Egypt is that a large number of foreigners visit this country during this festival. A large number of events and shows like belly dance shows are organized especially on this day. In fact, if you do not book your tickets well in advance, you may miss this event. People sometimes go out for Valentine dinner. Majority of the Valentine’s Day dinners are arranged in the hotels and the restaurants. Female guests in the hotel are greeted with red roses. Love-themed palates are served to the guests, on this occasion. Soft lovely music is played in the hotel rooms to add some romantic punches to it.

But celebrations of this day are not permissible by the Muslim laws. The Valentine’s Day celebrations throughout the world are marked by showing love and likeness to the beloved. The color symbol of this festival is red. Red roses, red candles, red pens, red candies and red teddy bears are hugely used on this occasion. This all-red festival has not at all been well accepted by the Muslim religion. According to the Muslim religion, young Muslims who are joining this festival are committing sins.
