Valentine’s Day ideas for Girlfriend

There’s a lot that goes with February 14th: dinner, dessert, drinks, and sometimes even dancing. You want to put together the perfect date, which means you’ll have to come up with some great Valentine’s Day ideas for your girlfriend. The most important thing to do is pick an activity she likes and pick up a little special something to show your appreciation. From there, you just have to let things happen and see how the evening goes. It might be wonderful or it could be a disaster, but your effort will be appreciated nonetheless.

Valentine’s Day date ideas for Girlfriend:

Having some trouble coming up with a plan? Here are a few to consider:

Long Drives
Something about a car ride always seems to spur deep conversation, whether you’re just driving across town or several hours away. Ideally, you’ll be able to find a romantic spot to park and spend time together – if you there are mountains overlooking your city or town, the nighttime lights are perfect. If the weather allows, you can spread out a blanket to enjoy a picnic (and maybe some champagne). This is a classic way to encourage some snuggling, allowing you to focus on each other during a break from your hectic lives.

Quiet Dinner
This can be done in a variety of ways, though most will probably head to a nice restaurant. There are obvious conveniences associated with having a trained chef and professional waiting staff serve your meal, but you might find it gets expensive, if you can even get a table. (Valentine’s Day is one of the busiest days of the year, after all.) You might opt for a home-cooked plate of her favorite foods to give your dining experience a personal touch. Of course, if you aren’t great in the kitchen, it’s probably best to leave it to those who know what they’re doing. Nothing kills the mood quite like burnt food!

Love Trail
This may have you thinking about a hike in the woods, but it’s more a way to reminisce about the changes that have occurred over the years. Depending on how long you’ve been together, you can move from the place you had your first date to where you proposed to the church you got married in. You’ll share a bunch of laughs and, if you’re able to secure some photos, can rejoice in the differences between the awkward early days and the loving relationship you’ve developed today.

Sunset Walk
There’s no simpler way to reconnect after dinner than taking a long stroll around the neighborhood. Leave your phones in the house, put on some comfortable shoes, and toss on a jacket (if the weather even needs it) before you head out the door. Chances are good you’ve planned for dessert and maybe a love story on DVD, so a walk in between will help the meal settle and allow the two of you to discuss your day before cozying up on the couch for the rest of the evening.

A word on gifts…
Let’s be honest, everyone likes to receive gifts. When it comes to Valentine’s Day, you can be really extravagant or find something small – either is a great option, but you have to think about what your girlfriend might like. You might be able to find a nice pair of earrings or even a tennis bracelet that she’ll like, but you could just as easily create a photo collage that she will love, too. The key – far more than how much you might spend – is paying attention to her favorites. It might be a particular bottle of wine or a gift card to a specific coffee shop.

Avoid the temptation to just spend as much as you can, what matters is showing how well you know her.
